6 Things to Do When Travelling Around Europe

Europe is one of the safest and most exciting places to travel, with dozens of different countries, cultures and attractions to take your fancy. Whether you’re a solo traveller planning on backpacking around Eastern Europe or a family organising a week-long holiday in the Med, you’re going to be spoilt for choice. To prove my point, here are 6 things you need to do when travelling around Europe.

  1. Music in Vienna

You don’t have to be a classical music fan to appreciate that Vienna is the home of the greats. Some of the biggest names in classical music were nurtured here, including Beethoven and Mozart. There must be something in the water! Visiting one of the incredible opera houses in Vienna is a must-do on any bucket list. Even if you don’t have the time to watch a show, just being in the building will give you goosebumps. Check out the Theater an der Wien or Staatsoper.

  1. Gondola Through Venice

It may seem like a cliche, but it really is something you have to do if you ever get to visit Venice. In all honesty, there isn’t that much going on in this floating town. You’ll want to spend 1-2 days

there maximum, before moving onto somewhere else. However, during your day trip there has to be a gondola ride. It’s like the law! Make sure you ask the price before you hop aboard – they should also have their prices on the side of their boats. And don’t forget your camera!

  1. Island Hop in Greece

Greece may be having a hard time right now, but the islands are like little countries of their own. You’ll find that many of them aren’t experiencing the tough economy or the migrant crisis; instead they’re still perfect holiday hubs. Instead of visiting some of the biggest, tourist areas, opt for some of the lesser known islands. You’ll see a little slice of paradise by visiting some of the quieter, less touristy places.

  1. Splash the Cash in Monte Carlo

If you’ve got a bit of money to burn then I would highly recommend Monaco and Monte Carlo. They are seriously glitzy and you’re more than likely to bump into a celebrity or two. Okay, so you will pay around 20 Euros for a glass of wine, but it’s worth it. Monte Carlo is also famous for its casinos, but if that doesn’t take your fancy there are plenty of other things to do… Like visit the beach!

  1. Get Festive in Bruges

Planning to travel Europe over Christmas-time? Then you’re definitely going to want to visit Bruges. This fairytale town comes alive over Christmas, with markets, ice skating rinks and fairy lights aplenty. Also, you know that Belgium is the home of chocolate right? Even more reason to organise a trip there over the festive season.

  1. Party in Croatia

Croatia is a seriously up and coming European destination, that is perfect for your inner party animal. The great thing is, it hasn’t become as chaotic as somewhere like Ibiza (yet). Which means that you can still take the children on a family holiday there. Just make sure you reserve one night with a babysitter, so you can really let your hair down and party Croatian style.

These are just six of the billions of things to do in Europe – I’ve tried to avoid some of the less obvious ones (Disneyland is obviously a must). Which of these things would you love to try? And which have you already done?!
