Days Out

A perfect family day out in Norwich

Admit it, organising a day out with the family can be a bit stressful: planning the right activities to make everyone happy, finding a restaurant that suits even the pickiest of palates and making sure you don’t try to pack too much into a day…so let’s skip all the hassle and go right to the fun part. Here are some suggestions for your next family outing in Norwich: dinosaurs, theatre, castles, gardens and more should keep your little ones entertained all day!

This 300-seat performing arts theatre is the ideal place to take the whole family. Situated by the riverside on St Georges Street, they offer lively shows year round that engage audiences of all ages. They also have a fantastic garden bar and two art galleries (as a little treat for the older crowd). To read about what’s on for families, click here – and make sure you book ahead of time!

Explore the rich history of Norwich Castle, one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Built over 900 years ago, this castle served as a palace, a prison and now holds collections of fine art, artefacts and natural history. They offer a range of exhibits and events for the younger set, like ‘Snapdragons,’ a puppet show and activity session all about ‘Snap’ the famous dragon especially designed for under 5s. To book tickets and see what events are coming up in A/W 2015, read their brochure here or visit their website.

Jaime’s Italian

With an award-winning kid’s menu and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to bring the whole family. Plus, it’s situated in the Royal Arcade right in the heart of town– just a few minutes’ walk from the castle!

This restored Victorian garden features three acres of beautiful fountains, flower beds, spacious lawns and wooded paths – perfect for a lovely picnic or a simple afternoon stroll with the family (unfortunately, no furry friends allowed, except guide dogs). Located just past St John’s Cathedral as you’re leaving the city, these gardens are open every day of the year and are free for under 16s. They also hold events and parties throughout the year – check their website mid-October for upcoming events.
