Enjoy an Action-Packed Summer in North Wales – GP

Following on from my last post on climbing Snowdon, here’s a post from the guys over at Haven on what else there is to do in North Wales if climbing mountains isn’t your thing!

From water sports to air shows to things that make you go ‘aww’: North Wales proves why summers here are more than exciting.

The holiday season is when North Wales comes to life, and with dozens of large-scale events this summer, the region is proving to be a UK holiday destination that cannot fail to impress.

Events take place all throughout the summer months, with the highlight of the season; the All Wales Boat Show, taking place in July. So plan your holiday well so you don’t miss a thing!

Wales, Water and the All Wales Boat Show

Water is at the centre of life in North Wales; so what better way to dip your toe in the water than with the All Wales Boat Show? A four-day celebration of water activities, not just for watersport enthusiasts, it runs from 24-28th July 2013 and includes participant and spectator events in and around the breath-taking Welsh coastline and scenic rivers.  Water sport experts will join visitors of all ages to deliver spectacular displays and activities equally perfect for those who love to muck in and those who like to watch.

In between the show’s jam-packed entertainment schedule of team rowing and sailing races; raft building and raft racing activities are guaranteed to provide fun for all ages and groups of family and friends alike. North Wales’ hidden creeks, tranquil rivers and idyllic lakes also provide fantastic opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting; so if you enjoyed seeing water sport experts in action at the All Wales Boat Show, why not spend the rest of your holiday trying it for yourself?!

Deganwy Quays Marina– the host of the All Wales Boat Show – is one of the most exclusive marinas on the North West coast and just a ten minute drive from Conwy’s famous castle. So, after your action-packed day at the Boat Show, make sure you stop off at the Fisherman’s Café in Conwy for a tasty plate of fish and chips to satisfy your hunger.

Day tickets for the All Wales Boat Show are good value for money, but everyone loves a discount so buy your tickets online and in advance to make a great saving.

When you’ve experienced all the Welsh water has to offer, turn your eyes to the sky for the Rhyl Air Show on 31st August and 1st September. Just 30 minutes along the coast from Conwy, this is a two-day event that boasts some of the country’s most impressive aircraft displays in a stunning Welsh coastal location.

And if you’d rather swap the captivating coastline for cute and clever canines, the Beddgelert Dog Show on 24th August 2013 will prove exactly why dogs are man’s best friend – enter your own dog or go along to admire others’ in a two-day show that is bound to make you say ‘aww’!
