Merrell Capra Sport GTX – Review

A good pair of hiking boots or shoes is an essential buy and probably the most important piece of gear to own and to get right, the last thing you want when a few hours into a 10 hour hike is for your shoes to be uncomfortable.

I jumped at the chance to review the new Merrell Capra Sport GTX in a shoe as I was keen to see how they felt when taken on long outings.

The Merrell Capra Sport GTX is designed to be lightweight and for the faster paced hikers, allowing easy assent on scrambles and climbs and are even suitable for runners.

The shoe is capable on all terrains with a Vibram MegaGrip outsole providing supreme traction and
30% more adherence to smooth rock surfaces.

I felt that the shoe is quite rigid and stiff particularly around the ankle area, so they will require a good deal of wearing in before this doesn’t feel like such an issue.

What I particularly like about this shoe is they are versatile enough to be worn on different occasions, I generally only wear my hiking boots when actually on a mountain, but these I like wearing for day-today use like walking the dogs and even when going on holiday to do sight-seeing.

As they feel a lot lighter than my boot I can easily see that I will get more use out of the Merrell Capra Sport GTX already based on this.  I can fit them into my daily lifestyle.

The Merrell Capra Sport GTX is constructed from synthetic materials and therefore are a vegan shoe, but has a GORE-TEX® waterproof membrane which repels moisture and enhances breathability for all activities.

The womens shoe comes in Grey/Wild Dove, Royal Lilac/Adventurine and Black/Grey and currently retail at £125.00 from the Merrell website here.

*I was sent a pair of Merrell Capra Sport GTX for the purpose of this review, all thoughts are my own.
