A visit from The Happy Badger!

I’ve been seeing these Happy Badger posts popping up all over the place so when I looked into them in more detail and visited their site, it was a campaign that I wanted to get involved with.

Basically The Happy badger is spreading happiness and donating £50 to a charity of the blogs choice….so my choice?  Well of course it would have to be Climb Your Mountain!

In my previous post, I’ve gone into the background and what the charity has to offer and some of the challenges you could do.  I don’t think it can hurt to bring some of these points back to your attention and give this small charity a bit more exposure and refresh some memories.

Basically the charity was set up by Charlie Wardle who was struggling with issues which resulted in Depression, he discovered that by focusing on exercise and new challenges helped him through this situation.

Climb Your Mountain is based in Milton Keynes, but also covers areas around the area like Northampton.  They regularly have walking groups, running clubs and quite often are found up a mountain somewhere!  Next weekend there’s a group off to Ireland to tackle Slieve Donard, although I’m sure there will be a bit of guiness involved!

Tonight, I’m taking part in a completely new challenge, Firewalking!  (more detailed post will come in a few days no doubt!)

To remind, you some of the trips that they put on are:

Here’s a list of overseas trips on offer:

  • Kilimanjaro
  • Everest Base Camp
  • Great Wall of China Trek
  • The Inca Trail (Machu Picchu)
  • Mount Toubkal (Winter & Summer)
  • Grand Canyon

UK trips:

  • Snowdon
  • Ben Nevis
  • Scafell Pike
  • Yorkshire 3 peaks
  • National 3 peaks

These are open to anyone, you don’t need to be local to Milton Keynes, so long as you can arrange to get to the destination, everyone is welcomed to take part…and believe me you don’t need to be super fit to take part in these challenges, but all you would need is commitment and determination to succeed and then you will succeed!

So there’s my recommendation for The Happy Badger, if you want to take part you can find details on their website: http://happybadger.co.uk/

So, which charity would you choose?
