What to Expect from a Visit to Sky Studios at the O2 Arena

Before Christmas we were invited to a breakfast event at Sky Studios in the O2 arena in London, the event included Avenger themed breakfast food treats, face painting, balloon modelling and dress-up.  If you’ve never been to the O2 arena before I would actually just recommend you go there regardless especially if you’re looking for something to eat, the choices around the arena are endless!

The Sky Studios tour is suitable for girls and boys alike, you’ll be taken from Avengers and becoming the Hulkbuster to reading the news to trying on Cinderella’s slipper!

The best bit we found was the Sky News section, sitting behind the desk with a set-up exactly as would be seen on the real news.  Here you get to choose what kind of news you’d like to read, from sports to an Avenger themed news report.  My boys picked to read the sports news.  Once decided on who would read which lines, the cameras (a real camera!) started rolling.  To take away from this experience was our very own 90 second news report, see their video here:

Also available on the Sky Studios visit is a virtual reality machine for Age 13+ only (sadly we missed this out) but basically you enter a 3D battle to protect Avengers towers, perhaps not one who gets motion sickness!

However the boys loved putting on the virtual reality Iron Man Hulkbuster armour and taking on the Hulk and robot drone from a scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

I even had a go at trying on Cinderella’s slipper….

When arriving at the Sky Studios tour, you will be handed a card with a QR code, this enables you to take away all the photographs and videos from your day to share with your friends (and make them jealous!).

Coming to this part of London makes a really nice change and it’s away from the hustle and bustle of central London (except on event days obviously!).  Whilst in the area there’s plenty to see and do to make a day of it, we went along to nearby Greenwich, an area I’ve heard lots about but never had the time to explore.

The Sky Studios are situated just in front on the main entrance to the arena and are free and open daily from 12-8pm on event days, and from 12-6pm on non-event days, or from 11am on weekends.  For more info on visiting Sky Studios see here.
