The perfect present for the globetrotter in your life, it won’t take up too much room in a rucksack! The idea behind Scratch Map® Travel came about because so many people loved having a Scratch Map on their walls but wanted something similar, to take with them on their travels. So Scratch Map® Travel was born, compact enough to pop in a suitcase, but big enough to contain detail and keep a record of your adventures. Everyone intends to keep a journal or diary when they go on the trip of a lifetime, but in reality fun comes first! Scratch Map® Travel makes it easy to record your adventures as you go.”

I travelled so much when I was younger I think I’ve lost count of the number of countries I’ve been to…some I was probably there just hours – through stopovers. My favourite place was Australia though, confirmed by the length of time I stayed for 🙂

I visited about 15 countries when I was a young traveller and fell in love with the green hills and beautiful architecture in Switzerland. I was also very taken with their hanging baskets filled with red geraniums in the summer.

Now it’s mainly about home, family and cats.

My father worked for the Foreign Office and then for the EU Commission directorate that administers aid to former colonies of EU members. I therefore spent my childhood living in lots of different countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. As an adult I also lived and worked abroad for over 20 years in the US, Canada, Switzerland, Bahrain and the UAE before returning to the UK. I counted up the number of countries I’ve visited, and it’s over 60.

My favourite country as a child was Gabon which was (is still I hope!) unspoiled rain forest with lots of animals. The jungle comes right down to the coast and the elephants, hippo and other animals come out of the jungle and go swimming in the sea! There’s actually a practical reason in that they want to eat the grass near the sea which has lots of salt, and the seawater bath helps rid them of annoying skin parasites, but it is a really magical thing to see as you just don’t expect to see jungle animals on the beach & in the sea.

I have visited Egypt, USA, Canada, Mexico, Malta, France, Germany, Belgium, Northern Ireland, Spain, India, Scotland, England, Italy, turkey and Greece. My fave place to visit is the USA as it is such a huge place there is so much to see and do – I go once a year

I have visited 6 countries. I have two joint favourites. One was travelling across Canada with my family (we saw Niagara falls, CN tower, helicoptered over the glaciers), and the other was when I went studying abroad in Indiana, America (I also went travelling to New York, Washington, Boston, zip lining through the caves in Kentucky).
