Christmas in Great Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth in Norfolk has some great Christmas events planned for this year, so a festive trip to the seaside should definitely be on your list of things to do this year! Here’s a list of festive fun outings you can do for Christmas in Great Yarmouth.
Giant Santa at Merrivale Miniature Village
A Christmas inspired makeover is sure to prove popular in the miniature village, which even in normal times is a pure delight to wander around!
As well as the chance to meet Santa, visitors during the Christmas period will be able enjoy all the usual sights of the English countryside in miniature, including its busy town centre, a perfectly kept village inn, farm, travelling fair, sports stadium, zoo, holiday park, country club, castle and cottages.
Visitors who have been to Merrivale Miniature Village will also be able to try out vintage slot machines and of course the traditional tea room at the end is a must! Still memorable (to me) for it’s amazing bread pudding!
To see the Merrivale Miniature Village in all its Christmas glory, you can visit from 12th – 23rd December 2021.
Santas Grotto – under 3’s £9.99 3 and over £12.99 | Christmas Gardens – all ages £4.99 – under 3’s Free.
Hippodrome Circus’ Christmas Spectacular
The circus is always a popular attraction at any time of the year but this year you can experience a water and circus ‘Christmas Spectacular’ show. Often described as a “Norfolk Tradition”, the Hippodrome Christmas Show is one of the biggest Christmas productions in Europe, combining the festive spirit of Christmas with the magic of circus. Taking place in the iconic atmospheric 1903 auditorium – Britain’s last surviving total circus building.
With world class circus performers, aerialists, acrobatics and daring stunts, there will also be synchronised swimmers and giant fountains, which come into their own as the historic central stage transforms into a giant swimming pool.
The Christmas Spectacular is open from 11th December 2021 to 9th January 2022 with tickets costing from £22 per adult and £13 per child.
Christmas Markets and Parks
Here you’ll find the three largest parks in Great Yarmouth transformed into a winter wonderland as part of a new Christmas in the Parks event. St George’s Park will also feature a Christmas Market from 26th -28th November 2021 and from 1st to 5th December 2021. You’ll also be able to find a similar event at Gorleston from 26th – 28th November 2021 at the Priory Garden. Lastly if you want another chance to meet Santa, then you can find him at The Venetian Waterways, where you can also take part in a Santa’s Little Helpers Scavenger Hunt from 27th November to 19th December 2021. You can access all three of these parks by a festive themed transport service.
