DEWBU Heated Soft Shell Jacket – Review

I love nothing more than enjoying the outdoors in all types of weather, but when i’m more stationary I tend to feel the cold massively.  I was therefore delighted to be given the opportunity to test out and review the DEWBU heated soft shell jacket!

Though DEWBU is more readily available in the US and Canada, this particular DEWBU heated soft shell jacket is currently available on Amazon UK for £189.99.

Key Points

  • 5 Heating Zones – There are two on the front, one on the back and one on each arm, with the front heating zones positioned near the front pockets to enable you to keep your hands warm also.  You can also adjust the temperature between 43 and 60 degrees celsius by the power button, green 43, blue 50 and red 60 degrees celsius.
  • 12V battery – this is essentially a power bank (that I’ve used to charge my phone), the battery when fully charged will last between 3.5 to 10 hours, depending on the heat setting you’re using.  Either way, the heating elements will be functional on a typical days use until you are able to recharge the battery.
  • This DEWBU Heated Jacket is of great quality soft shell material which is water and wind resistant.  The jacket including the heating elements can be washed in a washing machine (removing the battery before wash) or hand-washed.
  • Pockets! – Everyone loves pockets and this jacket boasts lots of them.  You can find large ones at the front and smaller ones on the arms and sleeve.

My thoughts

Although this jacket technically is for men, I would say is definitely more unisex, just measure using the size guide as you normally would.  It’s a simple style that you can wear anywhere.

The jacket is quite a but heavier than a standard jacket as you would probably expect, though you don’t really notice the weight when you’re wearing it.  And of course if you weren’t planning on using the heating element you can always remove the battery pack which packs a fair weight.

The DEWBU heated soft shell jacket starts to heat up really quickly, you feel it in your arms first and once you’ve zipped yourself up, your whole core is soon nice and toasty.

I like the fact I know I can use a battery pack I already have, so if there were any issues I have a back up.  It also doubles up as a phone charger so only need to carry one battery pack, though obviously this means the battery charge will reduce.

The only thing I don’t really get is the velcro detachable DEWBU logo badges, I guess this is so you can add any velcro badge you want in its place, I would rather they be permanently attached.

Although here in my part of the UK, we haven’t had the coldest of weather that we can sometimes get, I have still been able to wear it on a few occasions and know I will get plenty of wear in the winter months to come.
