Le Mas de Roussa – Self Catering Holiday Apartments in France

The beautiful self catering holiday apartments of Le Mas de Roussa are situation on the River Ceze in the Cévennes National Parc just outside of Saint Ambroix and within easy reach from various international airports in France.

Le Mas de Roussa was once a 19th century silk farm and currently have two large newly renovated apartments suitable for families and couples, with access to a swimming pool in the gardens and a very short walk to River Ceze where you wildlife enthusiasts can expect to find a variety of birds and maybe even some wild boar and otters!

Le Mas de Roussa Location

Le Mas de Roussa is located a few minutes drive from Saint Ambroix, a quaint market town and is about an hours drive from Nîmes airport, 1 1/2 hours from Montpellier airport and 2 hours from Marseille airport.  The most popular way to get to Le Mas de Roussa is to hire a car at one of the airports, but you can also find public transport options.

Saint Ambroix is a small town, but you’ll find a couple of supermarkets, some lovely restaurants along with some lovely streets to wander down.

There are many trips to be had whilst staying at Le Mas de Roussa, here are a few options:

Domaine de Berguerolles – 6 mins – local vineyard

Cap Canoe – 7 mins

Le Roc Tombé – 8 mins – popular swimming spot and nearby restaurant ‘Guinguette Moulin du Roc Tombé‘

L’Arche De Noe – 30 mins – popular kayaking route

Uzès – 45 mins – A city of art and history surrounded by vineyards

There are many restaurants and cafes nearby, upon a recommendation from the hosts for typically french meal, we ate at the atmospheric ‘Auberge de Banne‘.  Set up on the hills offering the perfect backdrop and french atmosphere to enjoy the food.

Le Mas de Roussa Property and Facilities

Le Mas de Roussa currently has two self catering apartments / Gîtes.  Gîte Le Figuier (The Fig Tree) and Gîte Le Noyer (The Walnut).

Le Figuier has 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 4 people, a private bathroom with a walk in shower and a freestanding bath, a comfortable living room with a SmartTv and a kitchen area. The master bedroom can be set up with a superking bed or twin single beds.  The apartment has its own private terrace and access to the shared swimming pool a short walk away.

Le Noyer has 3 bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people.  Split over two floors, downstairs has a comfortable lounge area with kitchen and toilet whilst upstairs has two double bedrooms and a twin room and shower room with toilet.  Enjoying its own private garden adjacent to the swimming pool.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is a welcome addition for guests, especially in the height of summer!  Loungers and pool toys can be found, a perfect way to relax, read a book with spectacular views.

River

Le Mas de Roussa is sitting a short walk away from the River Ceze.  There are a number of different spots along the river to enjy and all sign posted.  You can also find a bird hide, bamboo forest and other walks along the way.  If you’re lucky enough (and at the right time of day) you might be able to see wild boar, otters, beavers amongst other wildlife!  Darren and Anna the hosts (along with their very knowledgable children) will be able to advise on the best times to try and see them.
