REVIEW – Walker & Hawkes Ladies’ Pink Stripe Derby Tweed Waistcoat/Gilet
Tweed is somewhat a fashion essential when living in the countryside and is a timeless fabric that will be around for many years yet. Gone are the days when tweed was only worn by farmers or people who own horses, tweed has its place in everyone’s wardrobe! Tweed has been featured on the upcoming Autumn/Winter catwalks for 2018, where designers such as Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton are styling tweed in their collections.
Myself living in the countryside I’m afraid to say I haven’t up to now hold any tweed items in my wardrobe till now.. the lovely people over at UK-based Equestrian Co have kindly sent me the Walker & Hawkes Ladies’ Pink Stripe Derby Tweed Waistcoat/Gilet to try out.
The gilet is line with pink diamond-quilted polyester lining which should help keep you warm in the Autumn and Winter and the outer material is made up of 60% wool, 25% polyester 11% acrylic and 4% other fibres.
The gilet has adjustable studded flaps for a custom fit and two front pockets with moleskin trimming, branded studs and a heavy-duty two-way zipper.
Equestrian Co currently have the Walker & Hawkes Ladies’ Pink Stripe Derby Tweed Waistcoat/Gilet retailing at £42.95 with free UK mainland delivery. They also offer a price matching service should you find any of their products listed elsewhere and a full refund / return service within 30 days if not satisfied.
On first impressions the gilet looks to be of decent quality compared to some of the gilets on the market and the sizing is accurate (you may wish to size up if wearing the gilet on top of layers). However on first wearing the gilet I found it to be quite scratchy and itchy, but perhaps this might improve after a few washes. It’s worth noting that the gilet at this time hasn’t had much wear due to it being summer and the heat wave temperatures we have been experiencing!
Overall I’m pleased with the Walker & Hawkes Ladies’ Pink Stripe Derby Tweed Waistcoat/Gilet and look forward to keeping on trend in the next few months!
