Stay Connected with TP-Link Mobile WiFi
In a digital world where we’re used to WiFi or 4G wherever we go, sometimes when you’re on the move travelling it can be hard stay connected. There are a many places you can go to get WiFi in most parts of the world like hotels or cafes but what if you’re camping and you have no access to either of these things? Getting yourself a mobile WiFi is a good option and means you can connect to the internet wherever you like whenever you like.
I’ve been testing out the TP-Link LTE-Advanced Mobile Wi-Fi over the last month or so and in the run up to my upcoming trip to Iceland I’m confident I’ll be able to upload photos and connect with family and friends wherever I am.

Knowing very little about MiFI’s beforehand I was informed that I would need to get a sim card for the device before using, so a quick visit to one of my local phone shops I was ready to go. You have the option of paying as you go or signing a contract, so very similar to a phone. I opted for paying as I went as I only plan to use it occasionally and not all the time. However if you don’t have broadband at home then a contract would probably suit you better if you were going to be using on a more regular basis.
To get started all you need to do is have your device charged ready (plug charger provided), pop in your sim card, locate the network and add the password (found on inside of device) and away you go. I found the speed to be decent enough and I was able to achieve all I needed to do without pulling my hair out waiting…which is always a good sign! It’s worth remembering that the device is still relying on a signal to work, so if you really are in the no-mans land or in a valley in Wales (!) then you may still struggle to connect. That said, it’s small and light enough to carry around with you and as soon as you do get a signal you’re good to go. And let’s face it, it does us good to disconnect for a little while 🙂
TP-Link MiFi devices are available at most large electrical/computing stores and many online outlets, currently retailing at around £70-£75.
