Thule – Chasm Duffel Bag – REVIEW
Whether you decide to go away on a 2 week all-inclusive holiday or a 2 week adventure to the Himalayas, ultimately the baggage you decide to pack away all your belongings will come into play. Generally speaking for myself, I will pick a suitcase as the normal holiday choice as this is more practical in packing away clothing I want to try to keep crease free and I would choose a duffel bag for the adventure holiday, for obvious reasons as this bag is likely to be used the whole trip and some poor sherpa is going to have to lug it up the mountain on your behalf…a suitcase is not going to cut it here!
In preparing for my Kilimanjaro trip I splashed out on a North Face 70L duffel bag, and was pleased with it except the size….70L was pushing it and I had to sacrifice some items that just wouldn’t fit.
So I was really happy to be able to review the Thule Chasm 90L duffel bag (Large)!
The duffel bag biggest plus point is that it’s made from durable, waterproof tarpaulin fabric a big factor when exposing your bag to 10-12 hr exposure in environments that could be prone to wet weather.
When creating the bag, Thule stated: “When developing the Chasm series, we focused on two concepts ‒ strap management and ease of access”, says Graham Jackson, Global Product Manager Thule Group. “We made sure the shoulder straps were easily removable and the duffel bag straps able to cleanly store along the side of the bag. When looking at ease of access, the oversized wide mouth opening makes packing a breeze. And when in a roof box or airplane overhead, you can easily access the bag’s contents.”
The shoulder straps are easy to attach and remove to best find the most comfortable carrying position. The bag also has convenient mesh pockets to store smaller items that you may want to keep easily accessible.
Overall, I’m really pleased with this bag, so much so I may look into buying the X-Small / Small version for shorter weekend trips.
I was kindly gifted this item for review purposes on behalf of Thule, however all opinions are my own.
