Top Picks for Family Travel
Are you looking for your next family-friendly adventure? While all inclusive holidays at swank resorts can be fun for just you and the hubby, it can be difficult to find entertainment for the children. Plus, half the fun of travel is figuring out where everything is in a new place, at least in my opinion.
If you’re looking for a holiday that the whole family can enjoy, I’ve narrowed down my top four adventures that my family took in the past couple of years. Read on to learn more about them!
Beach holiday in Florida, USA
To coincide with the boys’ summer holiday, we took two weeks and explored Orlando. Magic Kingdom was a major hit with the kids, who loved the rides at Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Spaceship Earth, as well as beating the rest of us at Toy Story Midway Mania. We also had a few chill days by the pool and time to take in a few shows. We all loved the musical version of Finding Nemo, performed with large puppets.
We also had the chance for a little side trip, where we rented a car and explored Miami. We had a great time exploring the city, sampling the delicious food, and playing on the beach.
Easter in Paris
When the kids had spring break, we all took a short, four-day trip to Paris. While this gorgeous city has the reputation for not being very child-friendly, we found plenty of fun, educational things to do. We visited the Menagerie, spent some time on the Paris Plages, and paid a visit to the Paris Wax Museum. And the flowers were in bloom and everything looked truly magical.
Skiing in the Swiss Alps
This year we heard that there was good snow in the mountains, so we booked a week in a cozy chalet in the French-speaking region, in a small town called Verbier. The boys had ski lessons in the mornings and in the afternoons we all skied together as a family. In the evenings, we sampled traditional fondue and raclette, as well as local wine for the hubby and me.
Escape to Sardinia
After Christmas, our entire extended family decided to escape the cold grey winter and take in a bit of sunshine on the beautiful island of Sardinia. We stayed at a simple resort overlooking Cala Capra Bay, where the kids were able to play on the beaches and explore the quiet surrounding forests. We also had plenty of delicious pizza and gelato.
I hope you enjoyed my top picks for family travel. Our next trip is scheduled for November: a weekend hiking in Ireland. Stay tuned!
