Which Apps Can You Use To Learn Spanish?
With so many Apps on the market these days, it’s hard to know which ones are the best and which you should be spending the most time on. If you’re planning a trip to Spain (or anywhere where the native tongue isn’t English) in the future, it’s recommended that you learn at least a few basic phrases and words, the Spaniards like any native citizens will truly appreciate the effort you make to speak their native tongue. We’ve downloaded a few of the most popular Apps to learn Spanish to test out… Duolingo Duolingo is a free App which allows you select the language you wish to learn all from the same App. There’s no hidden charges and no Ads! Starting at a basic level, the App takes you through basic words and phrases with brief explanations on why you would use a certain word. I’d say that Duolingo is more an adult or older child learning tool, my eldest used it but pretty soon it felt like he was simply guessing the answers rather than learning from it. What I did like about this App was the ability to repeat phrases by recording and the App then told you if you pronounced it correctly. Learn Spanish by MindSnacks This App is more of a learning game, you learn through playing different games. The games offer repetitive learning and watching my eldest play this, I could see he was quickly remembering the numbers the more he played. I can see that this App would be well suited to a younger audience. The first lesson is free, however in order to progress you do have to purchase more lessons which is £3.99 for 50 lessons. Still not a bad price in my opinion as this is likely to be the App that’s used most in my family. Learn Spanish This App is much more visual, using audio along with images to help memorise. The App is split into different sections and with each section you have 9 different options, including games, flash cards and memory. The App is completely free too which again is a bonus and there’s no excuse to not learn! It’s worth noting that all these Apps are learning tools to help you speak basic Spanish, they are not an online translator for you to type in words and get the English equivalent back. These are best downloaded and learnt before you even arrive in the country and then if need-be you can refer back whilst on holiday. Most people do take their mobile phones on holiday nowadays and with horror stories of overseas fees (I’ve been victim to a few!) it’s good to know that Three Mobiles ‘Feel at Home‘ service means you can use your Three SIM abroad for no extra cost! It’s not just Spain either, there’s 18 countries where you will be able to use the SIM.
*All these Apps were downloaded via the iPhone App Store, should you wish to view any of Three Mobiles iPhone deals you can find them here.
**I was given a iTunes voucher and some Spanish goodies in return for this post, all thoughts are still my own.
