After an 8 hour flight from London > Kenya and a connecting 30-40 minute flight from Kenya to the aptly named Kilimanjaro airport, we had arrived in Tanzania! We had only been on the ground for maybe 10 minutes when the drama started, we were asked pretty much when we got through the door to […]
Following on from my first post, here’s the 2nd thing that’s worrying me about doing Everest Base Camp….leaving my boys for approx. 17 days! The longest I’ve been away from them previously was when I did Kilimanjaro 2 years ago which was for around 11 days. When I returned home from Kili there was a […]
I’ve already introduced you to the mad Poppy, now let me introduce you to my 4 cats.. The oldest is Marley, he’s a long-haired tabby and 9 years old, he’s incredibly vocal and very dribbly when having some fuss. He also has a violent streak, if you dare stroke him beneath the neck area, then […]
For the last day of half term, I decided to take the day off and spend the day with the kids, so i took them to Splash Zone, which is part of Gullivers Land in Milton Keynes. It’s basically an indoor play area with water… but no (or very little) standing water. There’s loads of […]
There’s a number of things that are worrying me about doing Everest Base Camp, i’m going to be writing about them as they pop into my head. Here’s the first and the one I will be experiencing within the first few days of leaving the comforts of the UK… Lukla Airport or actually just the […]
This is my lovely but ever so crazy dog Poppy, she’s 2 years old and a Golden Labrador, she;ll no doubt feature heavily in this blog as she’s always getting up to some mischief! Needless to say, she’s amazing with the kids, they jump all over her and she very rarely gets annoyed with them […]
The other day, I paid my deposit, thus securing my place on the Climb Your Mountain’s first Everest Base Camp trip! It’s pretty exciting yet nerve-racking stuff… I have approximately 8 months to raise a further £2750. Get myself into reasonable shape (which is going to be tough!) Prepare myself mentally for the possibility of […]
My name is Carly and I live in the UK. I have 2 boys, 2 dogs, 5 cats and many tropical fish (Yes I am that crazy animal loving person you read about!)…I work full-time from the comfort of my own home, I love music and try and get to as many gigs as possible. The reason I have set up this blog is to document my life as a mum whilst also tackling my desire to travel and have an adventure. I’ve recently completed an Everest Base Camp trek for charity in October 2013 and I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro back in February 2011…currently looking for my next adventure!
