’62 Love Me Do – Oundle – Food review
Living only 10 minutes away from historic market town Oundle, my friend Emma and I decided to forgo our normal Frankie and Benny’s meal out and try the newly opened ’62 Love Me Do.
’62 Love Me Do is a retro diner, based on the 60’s. The decor is red, black and white and has loads of different pictures and memorabilia to look at. When we walked through the doors, I was not expecting it to feel so cosy and inviting…other diners I’ve been in have felt cold and sterile.
The menu consisted of a variety of burgers and hotdogs, where all meat comes from just a few miles away.
We first had Garlic Bread with cheese, whilst we scanned the menu trying to decide which burger to go for!…I chose the Summer Holiday burger – A 6oz beef burger, sun-dried tomato, mozzarella & pesto and Emma had Z Cars – A 6oz burger with cheddar and we shared a side order of chips and Onion rings.
As always, because I wanted to try a dessert, I only ate about half the main, but it was very nice and the burger itself was delicious and not one bit of gristle was bitten on (I hate that!).
We scoured the dessert menu and I settled on Chocolate Fudge Cake and Emma picked Waffle Belgique . When it came out they certainly didn’t scrimp on portion sizes!
Needless to say, I couldn’t manage all my cake, but it was lovely and I wish I could have eaten every last bit. The bill came to around £30 ish, so taking into account we had 3 courses plus a drink, that’s pretty reasonable!
I would definitely recommend you to eat here, if you’re ever in the area 🙂
