Halloween is coming…

I’m a big fan of Halloween, I think it’s a bit of fun and excitement for the kids.  My husband on the other hand can’t stand it and think it’s ‘too’ American.

Generally Halloween now falls in the half term break so it means that we are more relaxed on what time they should be in bed and the amount of sweets they can eat before bedtime.

I’ll be honest I don’t make the outfits, I do tend to buy the Halloween costumes from either a local supermarket or if I’m super organised or if the boys have a special party to go to then I would search online using websites like Fancy Dress Ball , Websites like these are often a really good source for outfits, especially when they’ve gone through the trouble of sharing an infographic like this one with suggestions and tips on the top costumes for 2013.

So a typical Halloween day for us would start around tea-time, where I will do Halloween inspired snacks, like witches fingers (Jam sandwich fingers with an almond for a nail) and jelly with plastic bugs inside.

We like to wait till it’s getting dark before we venture out trick or treating, although this is generally around 6-6:30pm.  As a rule, we only ever knock on doors that have Halloween decorations or pumpkins outside as this tells me that the owner is welcoming trick or treaters, I know a lot of elderly or people who live on their own fell scared and don’t like to open the door after dark.
