Hill’s Science Plan Canine – Review
*I was sent x2 3kg Bags of Hill’s Science Plan Canine food for the purpose of this review.
Those that follow me on Instagram will know I have two Labrador dogs called Poppy and Monty. Poppy is the golden labrador and she is 8 years old and Monty is the black labrador and is aged 6. Whilst they are similar in age, they do vary individually on their exercise levels and diet.
Poppy is what you might call a “typical labrador”, she’s always hungry and will eat absolutely everything and keep going! She has always struggled to maintain her weight on normal food so has been on a reduced calorie diet for majority of her adult life.
The Hill’s brand is one I’m familiar with having previously worked at my local veterinary practice who have recently started stocking Hill’s so I trust that they promote the best food’s for our pets.
Poppy has been trying the Hill’s Science Plan Mature Adult 7+. This food is designed to support older dogs with joint and mobility support with added glucosamine and chondroitin, it’s easily digestible and helps sustain healthy vital organs with balanced sodium and phosphorus levels.
As previously mentioned, Poppy eats anything put in front of her so she has no issues with the palatability of the food.
Monty is a little bit more fussy when it comes to food, unless it has sausages in then he could take your hand off! He has been testing the Hill’s Science Plan Adult 1-6 Light. I opted for the light version as although he is quite active on walks, his weight can also creep up if not controlled well. This food has 29% less fat and 15% less calories,it’s also high fibre to help control his hunger levels.
Monty really liked this food and had no trouble finishing off his meals!
Both foods are chicken flavoured and have no added artificial preservatives, flavours or colours. They are available from most pet shops, online and some veterinary clinics.
Typically the price for the 3kg Adult 1-6 Light food is around £16.50 and the 3kg Mature Adult 7+ is around £13, prices do vary depending on where you shop of course. The 3kg Hill’s Science Plan lasted Monty and Poppy about 9 days.
